I work in customer service and deal with billing issues all day long.  Many people are upset because their credit cards have been lost and used fraudulently.  However, in recent years more customers have been phoning just to change the cards they have on file.  They have simply used prepaid credit cards for online purchases.  This controls the amount spent, makes it easy to replace the card, and in case of fraud, very little money is involved.  The safety and convenience of these cards has impressed me so much that I now use them when I travel, even though I own two standard credit cards.
