Naming your business is a difficult procedure. Many technology service companies name their company based on the domain name they can find.  Short domain names are better than long ones. For example, notice some large company’s names: Dell, Pepsi, HP, Skype, Google. These company names and the domain names associated with these companies are short enough to remember, but long enough to be distinguishable.

Most short domain names (4-6 letters) are already taken. If a startup company is heavily funded, it can purchase these expensive domains (ranging from $1000-$100,000!). Business owners who are set on a specific company name are often disappointed to find that the corresponding domain name is already taken. Many startups look further for domain name suggestions from many different sources. Brainstorming in a large group is a good way to come up with creative domain names.
